OK, time for a moratorium on the use of this woman in contemporary art.
Just finished a commission for my Sister in Law's 30th Birthday.
And here's how it got there.
For the first time in years I've been screenprinting. Quite pleased with the results, if I do say so myself.
Sorry for the crummy mobi photo quality. Anyway, this print touches upon one of my great loves; Whaling by hand. There's nothing to beat it, and there are many other like me who weep at the sight of a whale that's been killed from a distance by some impersonal high-tech boat. When you're right up next to them, harpoon in hand, and you look into their eye, it's almost as if they understand. The image is from a photo taken on my stag weekend.
A while ago a mate of mine offered me the chance to submit a cartoon to the online art magazine to which she contributed. I sent in this:
Wacky stuff, I'm sure you'll agree. Then I got an email from the editor saying that it wasn't the sort of thing that they wanted and could I do something more "Arty". So, I did some rejigging, and 15 minutes later, I sent them this:
This was far more to their liking and got the seal of approval.
